A playlist of music I’ve enjoyed listening to this month, some new, some new to me, some old favourites. Should be about right for the sunny Summer days here in the UK. Huge thanks to everyone who’s shared music, playlists, radio shows, mixtapes and good vibes this month x

Nearest Faraway Place on 1BTN
Super nice of 1BTN radio to invite me to join them for a one hour mix, 10 till 11am Monday 1st June. An hour of super mellow, Balearic business with music from Chris Coco, Cantoma, James Bright and lots more. A great station for a great city, thanks to Chewy Beatwell for hooking things up.
James Bright – Betamax EP
I’ve been seeing more and more quality releases from north west based producer James Bright over the last few months, including releases on Eclectics and Midnight Riot, and mostly recently his excellent track ‘Shimmer’ on the Sol d’en Serra EP on Higher Love Recordings.
He’s about to drop a new six tracker on Danish label Quattro Music, the Betamax EP is set for release on June 6th. If you’re a fan of the summery sounds of labels like Music for Dreams or International Feel then this is one to check. All super Balearic chuggers destined to soundtrack beach bars and pool parties, it’s a really strong package with guitar driven & percussive ‘Groves’ and loon bird & gamelan bubbler ‘Flying Tiger’ among personal favourites. Have a listen to opening track, the super mellow sunset atmospherics of ‘You and Me’ below.

Small Things EP by Gallo
Gallo is a Hell Yeah mainstay, key part of the Berlin based Balearic Gabba Sound System and resident of Buena Onda, Berlin’s only true Balearic bash. His first musical outing of 2020 offers three steamy originals and comes with remixes from The Vendetta Suite and Balearic Gabba Sound System.
Liquid Canoe by Liquid Canoe
‘As this mind expanding collection stretches out towards infinity, you’ll hear Floyd-ian funk, cosmic dub, tangerine daydreams and micro-dosed ambience, all imbued with the memories of New York lofts, Bay Area warehouses, skyscraping pines or the world wide web of fungi. Liquid Canoe taking you on an oarsome trip.’
Standout track? ‘Go Leonard’ is great place to start…
